External practices

In the external internships, two modalities are contemplated: the observation of children and Montessori environments, and practice as a Montessori guide. The observation of children and Montessori environments period will be from January 18 to February 14, 2027, students complete three weeks (90 hours) in a Primary School, under the supervision of an AMI-certified Montessori Guide. Who the course is for

For teachers, educators, psychologists, and other educational professionals who wish to obtain the AMI Diploma to become Montessori guides in the 6–12 age environment.

Nevertheless, it is also open to anyone from any background who wishes to gain an in-depth understanding of the Montessori approach for the 6–12 age group.

Entry requirements

You can access the master's degree if you meet any of these three requirements:

  • University degree linked to Educational Sciences, Pedagogy, Psychology or other related degrees. You can also access the master's degree with other university degrees, depending on each personal situation.
  • Undergraduate students who have a maximum of 60 ECTS credits left to pass. They must prove this with their academic transcript or a certificate from their university. In these cases, they can obtain the master degree as long as they have obtained the university degree before completing it. Otherwise, they will receive a certificate.
  • If you do not have a university degree, you will need to prove that you have had experience as an educator in schools or training centers for at least nine months. In this case, a certificate issued by the UdG Foundation: Innovation and Training will be issued.

This master's degree requires a lot of work; Therefore, a letter of motivation is requested during the registration process. A personal interview with the master's director will also be required.

Aims

The principal objective of the Master’s program is:

  • To acquire the conceptual, emotional, and technical capacity to guide the self-development of children in a Montessori environment for ages 6–12.

This involves:

  • Gaining in-depth knowledge of the developmental psychology of children according to Dr. Maria Montessori’s theory, which aligns with the latest scientific discoveries.
  • Understanding the Montessori approach to supporting the child’s self-development while contributing to the improvement of society.
  • Developing personal and emotional readiness to observe the child and respond respectfully to their process of self-development.
  • Comprehending and documenting the educational and methodological proposals across all areas of knowledge in an interdisciplinary manner.
  • Acquiring thorough knowledge of the materials and prepared environment for the 6–12 age group.
  • Learning how to present materials and stories effectively in the different areas of the curriculum.
  • Mastering the organizational and technical skills necessary to manage a Montessori environment for the 6–12 age group.

Professional outings

  • Work as a guide in a Montessori Elementary Education classroom. In Spain, a teaching degree is also required to teach in a school.
  • Recognized professional qualification as a teacher for the 6–12 age group in Montessori schools worldwide.
  • Ability to manage and assess educational projects in all types of organizations related to education.

Language

This is an international course offered in three official languages: Spanish, English, and Russian. Classes are taught in Spanish, with simultaneous translation into English and Russian (provided when the minimum number of students for each language is reached). The organization reserves the right to cancel any of these three language options if the minimum number of students is not met. All necessary curricular adaptations will be made in terms of language and culture, and all materials will be available in the three languages.

Depending on demand, the incorporation of other languages may be considered. Students may submit their albums and materials and take their exams in any of the three official languages. They may also present albums in other languages, with prior approval from the Training Director and depending on the availability of translators.
